At our club you will meet our community of aviation enthusiasts and instructors who will be glad to help you become familiar with our equipment and facilities. You will have access to our four club gliders, the hangar, clubhouse, shower, meeting room, canteen and BBQ. As a new member you will meet with your instructor and discuss your training needs. Our members vary in age and flying experience, from young students to experienced cross-country pilots. They bring with them years of knowledge and experience that they will willingly share. New members are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification and most important have fun!
During the summer months we fly most weekends, weather permitting, and participate in club BBQ's and social events. The London Soaring Club is a non-profit organization that relies on our membership to keep things running. Everyone helps on the Flight Line and in the maintenance of the club. During the week you will see members cutting grass, repairing equipement and doing odd jobs around the club. Volunteers are always needed to cut grass toward the end of the week so that it is nice and short for weekend gliding.
During the winter months, we are not flying but we are still busy! There is general clean-up and maintenance of the gliders as well as aviation workshops to keep us sharp! These workshops have guest speakers who are experts in their fields and speak on a variety of topics such as Red Bull Racing, parachute packing, Canadian astronaut, Dynamics of flight, Unmanned Quadcopter, Getting ready for the Gliding season.
