London Soaring Club Membership Fees

Our club is enthusiastic about offering the dream of flight to its members, whether just to experience the view at 2000 feet or to learn to fly and earn your glider pilot license.  Members enjoy the use of shared aircraft, free flight instruction, friendly competition and personal challenge, the camaraderie of club social events, and the love of aviation.

We appreciate full-time members who like to fly at every opportunity, but we try to offer flexibility and options to suit different sensitivities to time and cost.  Consider joining as an annual sustaining member, join for a few months at a time, try our low-cost "Four Pack" which includes instruction, or choose a flights-only option (no flight instruction) such as Associate or single-flight Day Member.  Evaluate your intentions about flying or learning to fly, look at the per-flight costs (tow tickets), then choose the membership category and payment option that is most economical for you.

Annual fees include Membership, Equipment Levy, and SAC (Soaring Association of Canada) dues.  Prepaid tow tickets are required for each flight taken.  All fees are payable in advance and non-refundable, and can be paid with cash, cheque, Interac email transfer, or credit card (3% surcharge added).  The club is not required to collect HST.

How much to budget for tow fees?  That varies a lot, but a very "keen" student pilot who comes out every weekend can expect to fly two or three times a day and achieve solo standard after a minimum of 30 flights.  Multiply the aerowtow cost/flight for your selected membership category to estimate your annual cost for tow fees.

As a club member, fees are only part of the story - additional contributions are expected in the form of assistance with flight operations during the course of the flying season and other activities toward operation of the club. The club offers mentorship to new members to bring them into the culture of the club, including the safety culture.
